Join us for a tour of Woodlawn Cemetery with Kevin Ganz, Curator of Education for Siouxland Heritage Museums.

Cemeteries are more than just a place we are buried after we die, but rather a place of reflection, history, and family connection. Founded in 1905, Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls holds the remains of some of our most prominent forebearers and each has a history to share. On this tour, we will hear about the lives of some of those buried in the Rosehill section, including Senator Richard F. Pettigrew, first full-term senator from the new state of SD and Woodlawn Cemetery founder.

Main gate: 26th Street and 7th Avenue. Please pull into the cemetery and park along one of the roads before making your way back to the main gate where the tour will begin. Bring water and wear walking shoes as we will leave paved roads. SVGS members are welcome to attend at no cost; non-members are also welcome, but must pre-pay a $5 cash donation to Kim McKeon, President of SVGS.

We’d love to see you there! Please call the library if you have any questions (Tues-Fri  Noon to 4 p.m.)
